Williams Has Had Success and Struggles in 2023
Gavin Williams has been a bit of a mixed bag for the Guardians in 2023. He's shown flashes of brilliance, but he's also had some struggles. In his latest outing, he gave up five runs in four innings during a loss to the Brewers.
Inconsistent Performances
Williams' inconsistency has been a source of frustration for the Guardians. He's allowed 10 runs in 8.1 innings so far this season, and his ERA is 11.25.
However, Williams has also shown that he has the potential to be a very good pitcher. In his first start of the season, he threw 5.2 scoreless innings against the White Sox.
Working on Mechanics
Williams is still working on his mechanics, and he's trying to find a way to be more consistent. He's been working with pitching coach Carl Willis to improve his delivery.
With his potential, the Guardians are hoping that Williams can develop into a solid No. 2 starter behind Tanner Bibee.
